Pick the supports, section and loads — the calculator returns deflection, moment and stress, draws the diagrams and finds the lightest section that passes.
What it checks — and what it doesn't. Linear Euler–Bernoulli beam: deflection and elastic bending stress in the vertical plane. Deflection uses characteristic loads, strength uses the γf factor; for a cantilever the limit is taken from twice the overhang (DBN V.1.2-2). It does not check lateral-torsional buckling, local buckling of walls, shear, joints or welds — that is a full analysis in SolidWorks Simulation.
The beam is split into 240 Hermite elements and solved by the stiffness method. Deflection is exact between nodes too.
Area and second moment are integrated from the real outline: tube corner radii per EN 10219, IPE root fillets per EN 10365.
Results match the classic formulas (5qL⁴/384EI, PL³/48EI, qL⁴/8EI…) to better than 0.1 %.
