THE BRIEF

BRIEF
ХТН-2/1 · 2026

The factory sent a brief for a voltage-transformer terminal cabinet: device list, terminal count, enclosure requirements and labelling per the relay protection project.

My part: build the cabinet in 3D from real device models, lay them out so everything fits and stays serviceable, and issue documentation to assemble and install it without questions.

ENGINEERING CONSTRAINT

What made it non-trivial

CONSTRAINTS
4 ITEMS

85 disconnect terminals, two switch-disconnectors, six breakers and heating in a 600 mm wide enclosure.

A dense mounting plate. XT1 with 85 URTK/S disconnect terminals and 10 UT4 feed-through terminals takes almost the full height, so breakers, switches and heating sit on DIN rails to the right.

Real device envelopes. Switch-disconnectors, iC60N breakers, auxiliary contacts, socket, heater and thermostat are manufacturer models, not boxes, so ducts and clearances are checked for real.

Schematic and table must agree. 65 wires, addresses at both ends, terminal bridges: one error in the table means a wrongly assembled cabinet.

Outdoors. AISI 304 IP54 enclosure with a rain roof, a 150 W heater with thermostat against condensation, cable glands at the bottom.

How I solved it

METHOD
5 STEPS

All cabinet data lives in one place, and schematics, tables and labels are generated from it, so they cannot drift apart.

01

1200 × 600 × 450 AISI 304 s1.5 enclosure, 2.5 mm galvanised mounting plate, wall brackets

02

Devices: 2 SIRCO MV 4P 100 A switch-disconnectors, 5 iC60N 3P 2 A and 1 iC60N 1P 6 A breakers with iOF contacts

03

Phoenix Contact terminals: XT1 85 × URTK/S + 10 × UT4, XT2 7 × UT10 + 3 × UT10-PE, tinned copper PE bar

04

Single data source: devices, terminals, bridges, 65 wires and labels; all sheets and Excel files are built from it

05

Automated check of addresses, nets and wire counts, plus a search for text overlapping lines in the PDF

·

The factory got a cabinet it can assemble without queries: every device has a place, every wire has an address at both ends, every terminal has a label.

A change now means editing one data file and regenerating: schematics, tables and labels update together and never disagree.
